Product designer Hanyoung Lee has come up with an innovative concept to make sure cars and pedestrian obey the traffic light signals.
Virtual Wall provides a barrier made up of plasma laser beams depicting pedestrians doing what they do best and any car that crosses that barrier suffers the consequences. via Iconglobe
Considering that the latest Australian Transport Safety Bureau report (April 2008 - pdf file) says there were 188 pedestrian deaths in the last 12 months (May 2007 - Apr 2008) this Virtual Wall Traffic Light idea might be a solution worthy of some further investigation by city councils.
